Figure of speech. The definition of it is using words figuratively, not literally. It takes a word from its original context, and uses it in another, this is known as a metaphor example. It can be constructed as a statement like; "She's like a pussycat". The concept of a metaphor example is very helpful in discussion by making the discussion more easier to understand. It is also good for confrontational action. a metaphor example may be used in an argument to get people to calm down like the following; "His bark is worse than his bite" or "oops, I spilled the beans about your friend, another metaphor example would be; "I was blown away with what you said in the argument. A metaphor example could be used in any type of conversation. Another one could be; stop walking up a moving staircase, another metaphor example is; "He was trying to bait me" which can be used in a conversation of trying to catch someone in the act of something. Another scenario of this is the metaphor; "Don't marry yourself" which means, don't get too self engrossed in you in a conversation. A metaphor eample is different than that of an oxymoron, which is a term used to define two words that are exactly opposite of each other in one statement, like the term; "A Quiet Loud", "A Stupid Intelligence" These terms are known as oxymorons. The world around us is full of metaphors, they are the reason why we are able to improve our level of communication accross cultures, We can close an argument with a meatphor that will reflect on not getting yourself excited over something that you can easily change. A metaphor example can be put to lyrics in a song, in a written article or story. Metaphor examples are as old as communication itself. It probably started in Prehistoric days of the Caveman, who probably used metaphor examples in his or her first conversation to their respected mates. As time evolved, so did the metaphor example. In the early years of The United States of America, metaphor examples were more than likely used in conversations with our forefathers who designed the Government and Constitution that gives us the liberty and freedom tha we enjoy in America. A metaphor example for a rainy day would be: "try walking between the raindrops" which could be used to tell someone who wants to stay dry in the rain to do such. |
